The beginner’s goodbye by Anne Tyler

by

I always like Anne Tyler’s books – her characters are always a little “off.”  This is a love story between two very “off” people.  When the wife dies, the husband reminisces on the marriage and the wife starts to “appear” here and there.  It’s interesting how he goes from deep grief to not so deep and almost broadcasts the romance he will fall into with a woman he has worked with for many years.  Part of the fun of the book is the workplace, a publishing establishment that puts out little beginner’s guide books.

I liked this one, too, Johanna. His wife seemed like quite a character!
