Goodnight, June

9780142180211_p0_v2_s114x166  I would classify this book as good airplane reading.  Even with distractions, “Please return to your seats and fasten your seat belt,” you can easily pick up the plot.  If your are thinking, “Does the title have anything to do with ‘Goodnight Moon,” you are correct.

This is a fictional account of a Seattle children’s bookstore owner’s friendship with Margaret Wise Brown.  In addition to this plot line, Sarah Jio explores the relationships between sisters, the need to keep book stores going, and a little romance between June and the guy who owns the Italian restaurant next to the bookshop.

This is mindless reading, but does give the reader some background on the life and reading career of Brown.
