“The 100-Year Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared”

Published in 2009, this absurd, laugh-out-loud book by Swedish author Jonas Jonasson, has now been made into a movie.  The film,  according to film critic Neil Genzlinger, falls into the genre of Old People Behaving Hilariously. The combination of the story being so outlandish, and the characters being larger-than-life, made this a unique book, and I am sure an equally unique movie.  Allan Karlsson is about to celebrate his 100th birthday at the nursing home where he lives, when he decides to climb out the window and see where the wind will bring him.

The film in Swedish, with English subtitles, stars Robert Gustafsson as the old man.  When released in video, I am sure many will want to relive Allan’s amazing adventures,9781401324643_p0_v2_s114x166 as he travels the world and meets major historical figures.
