Public posts on Facebook now searchable

I just read a recent article in American Libraries Online (via a link to PCWorld.com) that discusses Facebook’s newest addition, the ability to search public posts, to the tune of two trillion that have now become available. If someone adds a post to their timeline without limiting to friends only, it will join all public posts from the past and future that are now searchable by anyone in the world. Apparently this is a gauntlet flung down at Google, but how much impact it will have remains to be seen. If you would like to know more,or if you’d like to change privacy settings, see the article here.
