Getting Eyeglasses

Having to wear eyeglasses can be an anxious time for children.  Several good juvenile picture books approach the situation with humor.  “Who Needs Glasses?” a Katie Woo easy reader will definitely appeal to fans of this series.  “Glamorous Glasses” by Barbara J. Newman is definitely geared to young girls with a fashion sense.  Two cousins, Joanie and Bobbie, do everything together.  When Joanie finds out she needs glasses, Bobbie, of course, goes with her to the eyeglasses store.  They are both so amazed.  There are so many styles, shapes, and colors.  As it turns out Joanie doesn’t want to wear glasses but Bobbie does.  This is a funny story about two friends who support each other and how each adapts to the issue of wearing eyeglasses.9781590788783_p0_v2_s192x3009781404880498_p0_v1_s118x184

9781619637108_p0_v2_s192x300“Specs for Rex” by author and illustrator Yasmeen Ismail is aim at a young audience.  Rex does everything he can to get out of wearing glasses.  It is only when he helps his teacher find something she lost and when a fellow classmate compliments him on his glasses that Rex learns to love his specs.
