Notable Children’s Books 2015

The New York Times’ “List of Notable Children’s Books” contains nine recently published children’s books.  Here are just three.

“Ask Me” by the well-known author Bernard Waber, “Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, etc., was published after his death.  A father and his daughter are taking a long, leisurely walk on an autumn day.  Their conversation reveals how much they love each other.

“Finding Winnie:  The True Story of the World’s Most Famous Bear” is written by the great granddaughter of the Canadian soldier who brought a bear cub with him to Europe during World War I.  Everyone loves a bear story, and this is the true story of the ultimate bear.

“Waiting” by the always creative Kevin Henkes deals with five toys waiting on a windowledge.  Each toy is waiting for something different.
