The latest Hanne Wilhelmsen mystery by Anne Holt opens with the murder of the Norwegian Prime Minister, Birgitte Volter, who was in office for only 6 months. She was found in her office at 7:35 one evening by her secretary, and the mystery begins. The list of characters is rather long, with unfamiliar names, and is a bit difficult to keep track of. It took me a while to get through this; it requires concentration to keep all the details of the plot straight as well as the characters. The novel is divided into time frames with locations, and jumps around fairly frequently, but examines the characters’ motivations, which made it a good read in my book.
