Common Sense Media is a nonprofit organization “dedicated to helping kids thrive in a world of media and technology.” Along with reviews for books, movies, apps, games, and web sites, Common Sense Media offers parents and teachers a resource for families to make “smart media choices.” The web site can help you make informed choices as kids in this time have so many choices in media. They believe in “sanity not censorship.” Visiting the web site today, I read their post on talking about the election to children and found it very helpful. It is also free of advertisements. Common Sense Media has links to great STEM toys to buy for kids, newly released and old movie reviews, Top Picks and Essentials in TV, books, movies, apps, and games. Their reading section answers questions such as, “What’s the best way to develop a love for reading?” “What are some books that promote a positive self image?”
They have resources in Spanish as well. Common Sense Media: “We advocate on behalf of kids on a wide range of issues, including the educational impact of technology, protecting kids’ privacy online, and improving the impact of media on child health and development.” I recommend taking a visit to this worthwhile web site.
