Original Art Display

index-aspxThe Society of Illustrators currently has on display original art by over 100 children’s book illustrators. The show runs through the end of December, and is well worth the trip to NYC. The Society is located at 128 63rd St. on the east side, and is housed in a wonderful old building with a parking garage conveniently located next door.

The Society has chosen the winners for its four annual awards. The Founders Award is given to promising new children’s illustrators with a body of work that totals 3 books or less. This year it goes to the Fan brothers for The Night Gardener. The Gold Award is given to the best illustrated children’s book, and was given to B.B. Cronin’s The Lost House. Two silver medals were awarded to Beth Krommes for Before Morning and Daniel Miyares for Bring Me a Rock!
