This sequel to Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton is just as thrilling as the first book! Usually, I don’t read too many fantasy novels/series for a couple of reasons,
1) By the time the next book comes out I’ve forgotten everything that happened in the first and
2) World building is REALLY HARD in fantasy books and can come off as cliche.
Luckily this series is none of these things. First of all Hamilton puts a “Cast of Characters” in the beginning of the book to remind you of who everyone is and Hamilton has built such an interesting and exciting world. Seriously, you cannot put this book down. The entire book is action. The descriptions of the lands and palaces and the clothing are intricate and beautiful. The characters are interesting and complex.
There were many points in the book where there were plot twists etc. that I had NO IDEA were coming.
I know that I will have to wait at least a year before the next book comes out but…I just can’t wait.
This book picks up pretty much were Rebel left off: When Amani finds herself thrust into the epicenter of the regime—the Sultan’s palace—she’s determined to bring the tyrant down. Desperate to uncover the Sultan’s secrets by spying on his court, she tries to forget that Jin disappeared just as she was getting closest to him, and that she’s a prisoner of the enemy. But the longer she remains, the more she questions whether the Sultan is really the villain she’s been told he is, and who’s the real traitor to her sun-bleached, magic-filled homeland.
Guys, if you haven’t started this series yet you MUST!
