If you’re looking for a Thriller then this book should fit the bill. My Sister Rosa by Justine Larbalestier talks about topics that I previously haven’t read about before in a YA novel.
The book is about Che Taylor, a teen from Australia who has spent his life traveling with his slightly-unconventional family around the world who has now landed in New York City. He loves to box despite his Parents’ aversion to violence of any kind, he misses his friends back home in Australia, and he wants desperately for someone to do something about his little sister Rosa – because he suspects (no, he knows it) that she is a Psychopath. Literally.
Rosa is smart, talented, pretty, and so good at deception that Che’s convinced she must be a psychopath. She hasn’t hurt anyone (although there have been incidents with animals) yet, but he’s certain it’s just a matter of time. Despite his normal teenage woes his first duty is to his sister Rosa, who is playing increasingly complex and disturbing g
ames. Can he protect Rosa from the world – and the world from Rosa?
Rosa’s behavior is truly disturbing and quite frankly so it everyone’s oblivion to it – but that is part of the story. There is more to Rosa’s actions then meet the eye and if you read this exciting psychological story you will find out!
