Pat Hutchins, Children’s author

 

Children’s author, Pat Hutchins, died November 7, 2017 age 75. Born in England, Hutchins relocated to the United States with her husband where she became a successful author and illustrator. She won the Kate Greenaway Medal and many Notable Book awards. Her picture book, Titch, was made into a TV show. I have wonderful memories reading ‘Goodnight Owl!” and “The Doorbell Rang” with my daughter. many of her books are considered classics. If you are looking for titles for your ‘1,000 Books Before Kindergarten’ journey, be sure to include some from Hutchins.
