The mission of the ICDL is to build a digital collection of books in different languages “so that every child can know and appreciate the riches of children’s literature from the world community.” The ICDL has over 4,000 books in 59 languages aiming “to prepare children for life in an ethnically and culturally diverse world by building the world’s largest online multicultural repository of children’s literature.” This free web site allows users to read children’s books from around the world. Great for children, parents, teachers and caregivers, the ICDL allows users to share books on a device, learn about other cultures, languages all while promoting reading.
