Children’s poet and editor, Lee Bennett Hopkins, died this week at age 81. Having published his own books of children’s poetry and more than 100 anthologies, Hopkins also has two awards named after him including the Lee Bennett Hopkins Poetry Award. His titles include anthologies of Langston Hughes and Walt Whitman. Hopkins’ titles “Time to Shout Poems for You” and “Faces and Places” were two of my favorite books growing up. His books are sure to be found in every children’s library. Click on the picture above to find a title in our library system. There’s sure to be one for the special child in your life.
