Tin Heart by Shivaud Plozza (author from Australia) was such a lovely and surprising read!
When Marlowe gets a heart transplant and a second chance at life, all she wants to do is to thank her donor’s family. Maybe then she can move on. Maybe then she’ll discover who she is if she’s no longer The Dying Girl. But the family has requested no contact with her. She follows some leads and thinks that she has found the right family…but what are the implications of trying to contact them?
But with a little brother who dresses like every day is Halloween, a vegan warrior for a mother, and an all-out war with the hot butcher’s apprentice next door, Marlowe’s life is already pretty complicated. Can she really handle all of the lies needed to snoop around and maintain her precarious health?
Marlowe is such a down-to-earth character – and although this story (organ transplant recipient) has been done before – I found her journey to be fresh and heartwarming without being cheesy. Also – this book made me laugh out loud and cry – not easy to do!
