Have you ever listened to or watched any of the Great Courses series? The Great Courses is a series of college-level audio and video courses produced and distributed by The Teaching Company. They cover just about any topic imaginable and they are goooooood. Some are informational and some instructional.
My personal favorites are the ones on Language or History. However, there are ones on cooking, music, and economics. Here are a few titles available which may interest you:
How To Paint, A Children’s Guide to Folklore and Wonder Tales, Food Science and the Human Body, A History of India, The Entrepreneur’s Toolkit, Turning Points in Medieval History…the list goes on and on!
The one that I just finished “Language From A to Z” was a fascinating look at Linguistics and fun, quirky fun facts about language and word origin that I found to be not only educational but entertaining. For example, “What’s the deal with slang like “baby mama” and “LOL”— where does it come from and can it actually be OK to use?
Why don’t English speakers use words like “thou” and “thee” anymore?
What makes “mama” and “papa” the first words spoken by children in many languages?”
Take a look online and see which ones interest you and order away!
