After discovering that Eric Carle, the famous children’s writer and illustrator had passed, I came across this title in the catalog. The very entertaining stories are indeed short, a mere two or three pages, but yet Carle communicates his point very succinctly, the mark of a truly great author. Carle explains how he received his love of animals from his father, and every one of the 19 stories contains an anecdote concerning an animal(s). It is a gem of a book, and not to be missed. It is in the RCLS library system, and is also available for sale at the Eric Carle Museum website.
