Carlene Bauer’s novel follows the friendship of Charlotte and Rose from young girls to women in middle-age. As best friends in NYC, they (sometimes) work together, (sometimes) live together, and share adventures as single women. Both writers, the friends navigate boyfriends, bosses and ambition. As they choose different paths in life their friendship diverges as well. Told through Charlotte’s voice, the arc reveals how they grow apart as both seek success and happiness.
